“His soul is still here… we can’t get rid of him.”
-Danny Brook
“The god of Life”
Fiction. Based on a True Crosswalk.
By Starry Teller
All journal entries are inspired by true events. Some of the characters, names, businesses, incidents, and certain locations and events have been fictionalized for dramatic purposes. Any similarity to the name, character or history of any person is entirely coincidental and unintentional.
Though I am not an
Omniscient being and
Though I have not the power
to see and be all to all
people and all places,
Each day I inhale oxygen
and exit my personal sphere,
Every time I place myself
behind the wheel,
muddy minded or dazed,
I yield a little more power
that never should be mine.
A doctor is not the only
wielder of power:
But a faulty medicine, a rabid pet,
a misplaced garden tool,
a protruding steak knife,
a kindred friend at odds,
or accidental duel.
Even more common:
When you run across the street
with your dog and
There is no crosswalk and I
am driving home after an
Eight hour shift and it is
pitch black and you wear
pitch black.
I am the god of your life
And you are the god of mine.
