Oh great Buddha, who is dead,
may your image remind
me to take in all the fire around
me that blisters me, all the torrent

that drowns me, all the rubble
that crushes me, and all the bellows
that beat me, and make them

my own.

Help me see that I command
my every torment, that I can
reap power and strength from
every catastrophe because I know
their terror, their malice, their imprisonment

is that of my own mind.
