someday, we will be antiquity.
we will fade into the soil, into everlasting night,
and even our most well-preserved of memories will be gone.
we will dissipate,
with grace or a painfully human fight,
into the sanctity of time.
oh songbird,
when that good day comes,
will you call mournfully into the sky?
will you sing to celebrate the loss?
will you even change your song?
only mother earth can know
the beauty of oblivion
and sees the power of regret
within the scope of the unknown.
