Blood was spilled; just not in the way I thought. The serpent has fallen ill.

In the back of my mind I know it needs me. Like all of God’s creatures its soul cries out for mercy.

Yet the treachery in its tongue moves to strike even as I reach out my hand.

The Christian in me deciphers between what is right and what is wrong, but did the Bible not also speak of foolery?

Though it wriggles eerily in pain and despair, though it cries out, my mind tells me to fulfill the prophecy and crush the head of the serpent.

What stops me?

Christianity.

Who am I to deny one his mercy when it was first given unto me?

The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit healed me when I was yet in sin; crying in emotional agony, lying in the shadow of my past.

It is my duty to show the world that despite sin, God’s grace is sufficient.

Still, my ability to reason; that of which also comes from God, whispers to me; Beware,” it says. “The serpent is cunning.”
