Duties:
- Writing and researching bi-weekly articles

As our research and expressive writing intern, you would be tasked with researching, writing, and helping publish articles about the science of our program (using journaling to heal from heartbreak, grief, and other forms of trauma) for publishing every two weeks. Articles can be brief (around 500 words or less), but must be well researched, properly sourced and cited, and original.
On weeks where you’re not publishing an article, you’ll be tasked with attending and participating in at least one of our daily journaling sessions. Sharing your journaling is not mandatory, but interns eager to publish and become a contributing journal-artist are preferred.

We are currently offering a six months internship for the position of “Writer and Social Media Marketer” to join our team. This position is a six month internship with the potential to stay on after completion.
As a the writer and social media intern, you be working directly with the Editor in Chief to schedule social media posts from our collection of over 90 artist interviews and 800 journal entries across all of TLS’s accounts, create interactive and interesting curation of these content through memes, clips, and other creative methods, encourage target audiences to journal, advocate for expressive writing and mental health, advocate our mission, and target specific audiences according to the nine personas inside our organization’s mission mapping.
You will also write short articles, between 500-1000 words, correlating mental health with the benefits of journaling and expressive writing. The writer and social media intern will gain knowledge and experience in social media marketing, expressive journaling, and writing research-based articles inside an educational and publishing nonprofit organization.
We work completely virtual and use tools like Zoom, Trello, #Slack, and Google Office for infrastructural support.
Internship Qualifications:
-Recent college grad or currently enrolled
-Willingness to learn new skills and learn independently in a time agnostic, performance-based setting.
-Great communication, reliable, responsible, and timely at editorial meetings.
-Ability to stay on task with minimal management. We do not micromanage in this organization so we rely on independent, creative, and dependable people.
-Has a passion and curiosity for social media marketing, writing and/or improving mental health in yourself and for others.
-Have knowledge of social media accounts like Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, and YouTube or be willing to learn
-Great organization skills
-Proficient with time management
Internship Responsibilities:
-A minimum of 3-5 hours weekly working on projects for TLS
-Must have knowledge of or being willing to learn and optimize multiple social media platforms—Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube and leverage Woofy to consolidate and schedule posts.
-Must know or be willing to learn how to use Zoom, Slack, Trello, Google Docs, and other platforms of communication used by TLS.
-Create creative curations of The Love Story’s content for social media consumption.
-Will create interactive content (examples are Motivational Mondays, Fun Fact Fridays, etc.)
-Engage with audiences and respond to questions, comments, or direct audience to proper locations.
-Write and submit articles on a weekly or biweekly basis decided between intern and editor
-Join journaling workshops a minimum of every other week to gain knowledge in how TLS works as an organization

We are currently offering an internship for the position of “Anthology Editorial and Production Intern” to join our team. This position is a four-month internship with the potential to stay on after completion.
As an editorial and production intern, you will be working directly with the Editor on an Anthology publication project which consists of pieces submitted by Journal-Artists. Interns gain hands-on experience with editorial processes (acquisitions, copyediting, proofreading, and metadata) and production processes (layout for multiple formats, copy specifications, and marketing). We work completely virtual using Zoom, #Slack, and Google Suite.
Internship Qualifications:
-Recent college graduate or currently enrolled.
-Passion for creative writing, book publishing, and the improvement of mental health in yourself and/or others.
-Have knowledge of short fiction and poetry techniques with a strong command of the American English language.
-Knowledge in or the willingness to learn Google Suite, Trello, and Zoom.
-Strong organizational and communication skills.
-Detail-oriented.
Internship Responsibilities:
-A minimum of 5-10 hours weekly working on the project (but will be flexible to meet university requirements and class schedules).
Aid in editorial processes:
-Acquiring pieces for publication
-Copyediting and proofreading
-Gathering metadata and copy specifications.
Aid in production processes:
-Produce layout for e-book and print editions using tools such as Vellum
-Design visual aesthetic correlating with the project’s theme
-Produce marketing materials in collaboration with other departments.
-Meet weekly or every other week with the department team decided between intern and editor.
-Attend Mirror-Darkly Workshops weekly or every other week to gain knowledge of the organization’s functions and writing techniques.

In 2023, we are focusing on helping high school and college students develop peer-to-peer journaling groups and support systems that can help them 1. Process pain as a journal-artist through fictionalize creative journaling, resonate-editing, and open-mic / spoken word performances, 2. Reframe the negative narratives, 3. Discern their true passion, pursuit, and purpose by shadow integration through journal-artism, which fuses journaling, journalism, with the personal journey.
As a member of our Grant Writing team, you will be operating remotely with the team when attending meetings, and independently when you are brokering partnerships, writing and submitting. We are thus looking for driven and passionate team players who will bring a variety of skills and perspectives to our projects. Well written work and professional oral communication, with a basic understanding of non-profit structure and finance, analytic ability, creativity, and interpersonal skills are key attributes to this position.
Responsibility
Grant Research - Creative identification of foundations and partner organizations, analysis of these programs on a variety of eligibility factors, create a database creation when prospecting, and setup first and second contacts between funders and founder to develop relationships.
Grant Writing - Writing a well thought through and optimized grant based on foundation requirements, writing and reviewing grant opportunities, contacting foundations or giving representatives before, during, and after application for grants, and effective analysis and communication of required data.
Aiding the Executive Director with financial projections as feasible.
Requirements:
5-10 hours per week, preferred at least 3 months+
Some flexibility possible.
This is a three months volunteer program.

The Love Story Media, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit that inspires, encourages, and heals the broken hearted to process pain through expressive writing and therapeutic journaling.
In 2022, The Love Story Organization is creating an anthology of journal entries, told in fiction, based on a true story, in the genre our organization is co-creating called, “Journal-Artism.”
