A thousand years could never be
Long enough to say goodbye.
I dream sometimes you’re here with me
But then I open up my eyes.
To let go of
But I know
When I let you go
Into the sea
You’ll not lose your hold on me.
I drive the streets sometime at night
Past the house where I grew up.
The sky of stars and endless trees
Under which we’d laugh and sing.
Those times made me
Who I am today.
You left behind your soul
Just in the shape of your loving child
And I’ll never be the same.
When I was young you’d sing to me
About what I would gain and lose.
I never thought I’d know this pain
Or that the one I’d lose
Would be you.
