“Awe”

Fiction. Based on a True Self-Awareness.

By Bry LeBerthon

This journal entry is inspired by true events. Some of the characters, names, businesses, incidents, and certain locations and events have been fictionalized for dramatic purposes. Any similarity to the name, character or history of any person is entirely coincidental and unintentional

you have always been one to fall in love with extremes.
massive cities, towns in the absolute middle of nowhere, sickeningly sweet desserts, disgustingly bitter black coffee.
celebrations of obsessions, secret and pining love letters come to light, studying how people respond to the delicate teeter between life and death.
how could someone not love something so completely and unapologetically itself? how could you not find it stunningly beautiful?
maybe then, you think, as you look at yourself in the mirror and force a smile, maybe instead of continually forcing yourself to fight the unending uphill battle of convincing yourself you are not the worst,
you can convince yourself to fall in love with that too.
